Wow - I just saw the trailer for the movie that I want to see more than anything else for the rest of the year - Jarhead.
It's directed by Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard (who has been my dark horse for an Oscar for a while now), Chris Cooper (also in American Beauty) and Jamie Foxx. Just from the trailer alone, it looks equal parts M*A*S*H*, Three Kings, and Full Metal Jacket.
I even love the tagline, "Welcome to the suck." Brilliant.
Here's the poster - check out the detail on the dogtag of the Iraqi oil wells burning:
I cannot wait for November 4th.
I cannot find anywhere the name of the song or artist that is featured in this trailer. Awesome music, but who and what is it!?

Hey Byrne - The music is "Jesus Walks" by Kanye West.

and we all know what Kanye West, thinks abpout the war.
that idit.
Posted by: Ice Man | October 18, 2005 at 04:00 PM
Um, Ice Man? I think you mean "idiot."
I would never presume to speak for Kanye West, but I'm pretty sure he was talking about Hurricane Katrina and the President's response to the tragedy. But hey, life is confusing. I understand. It's easy to confuse things like a hurricane and a war, Iraq and Afghanistan, Saddam and Osama, etc. It's cool though, thanks for playing. We've got some lovely parting gifts for you...
Somewhere, "Ironic" by Alanis Morissette is playing softly.
And this one's just for fun:
Iceman: "You can be my wingman any time."
Maverick: "Bullshit! You can be mine."
- Top Gun (1986)
What a great name... I just may name my next child Iceman.

Hey Craig you didn't even say anything about Iceman's "...abpout...", course he was probably drunk, like me :) . Course Jarhead will be a good movie, Jake Gyllenhaal rocks, and that is a sweet song by Kanye, so everyone wins, right?

kanye west is a turd burgler and hates white people!
Posted by: Speed | October 21, 2005 at 02:52 PM
Why do all the really brilliant posts come from people with names like Speed or Iceman? Are they some new sort of Justice Society of America? They sound like super heroes.
Anyway, while the term "turd burgler" is hilarious, (admit it - say that out loud, and I dare you not to laugh. Some words just sound funny. Ask Dane Cook.) we've got another spelling mistake on our hands. I'm pretty sure you're talking about a turd "burglar."
Just out of curiousity... what is a turd burglar anyway? Someone who breaks into your house and steals your, um, crap? Is that what you're really accusing Kanye West of?
But hey... always good to get input and feedback. ;)

Having Kaynye West do the song was a bad decision. It was a good song, but in the back of my mind I can see Kanye saying, "Bush hates black people so he sends them off to fight the war in Iraq."
Is this the first movie to come out about the war in Iraq? I just saw this movie's commmercial come on the tv and thought, "I have to see this." The imagery looks so powerful.

It's about one marine's experiences during Desert Storm - not the current war in Iraq.

I'm slightly disturbed that people didnt know "Jesus Walks"...if you've been alive and living in the United States since 2004 how could you not know that song?
Posted by: yourmom | November 05, 2005 at 05:48 AM
In Quebec a turd burglar is the thief who follows the first burglar and the second burglar. So I would really like to know how Kanye is one?! Do some research before your make dumbass remarks or maybe just think about it first.

I have been around and haven't even heard of kanye west until that faithful moment on the katrina fundraiser. And yes turd burglar is a funny word.
Posted by: The rev | January 20, 2006 at 10:04 AM
I personally find it funny Kayne was so emotionally disturbed by the President's response that he wrote a song about it and criticizes everyone for not helping; BTW I'm not positive but did Kanye help out by volunteering, or donating money. Sorry just unsure?
