Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire had another great weekend, as its $54.9 million was the winner this week, the 7th best Week 2 total ever (note that it's behind this year's earlier smash Revenge of the Sith), and the 7th best weekend total of the year overall. The $201.1 total is the 6th best of the year (in only 2 weeks) and is the 63rd movie to ever break the $200 million mark. It only dropped 46.3% compared to The Prisoner of Azkaban, which lost 63% in its second week, but the Thanksgiving holiday played a huge role in that. Azkaban didn't break $200 million until it reached the halfway point between weeks 3 and 4. Why wouldn't it surprise me if the best of the Harry Potter series became the lowest grossing title?
In other news, Walk the Line made a nice $19.7 million to reach $54.7 million, ensuring that it will pass last year's musical biopic, Ray, which topped out at $75.3 million, but then did killer business on video. This would seem to suggest that the Academy will look very favorably at the performances of Reese and Joaquin and won't be scared away by any poor box office results. The disappointment of the year, however, has to be the unbelievably poor showing of Rent. At just $10.7 million, (even though it only cost $40 million), with all the hype, Sony had to be hoping for much, much more, pining for the Chicago route - not the Phantom of the Opera path... Where are all the Rentheads?

Bad box office aside, where's your review of Rent? Lisi, Chad, Jen, and I all walked out of the theater on Wednesday night wondering what YOU thought about it. Also looking forward to your review of the straight-to-video OyBaby 2!

While OyBaby2 has Eli coming back for more again and again, Jill and I are still trying to make the planets align with a babysitter so that we can go see Rent.
What did you guys think?
