You may remember Thank You For Smoking as the film that landed two (that's right, two) distributors at Sundance this past year. I'm sure all issues have been resolved through some combination of prostitution and blow, since Fox Searchlight's name is now prominently placed underneath the hilarious trailer.
The people who thought they had bought it, Ruth Vitale and David Dinerstein of Paramount Classics, failed to close the deal and Fox Searchlight ran away with the film. They later lost their jobs—not necessarily because they didn't score the movie, but it certainly didn't help.
