I just want to say two things about this new trailer for The Dark Knight.
First, let's just call it a genius casting move by giving Heath Ledger the role of The Joker. I love that he and director Chris Nolan have decided not to play it for laughs, but going the "dangerously deranged" route. I'm including my favorite pics below.
Secondly, why is no one talking about the fact that Katie Holmes literally got fired from this enormous franchise? Is it because she stunk and we're so relieved to have Maggie Gyllenhaal there instead? Because we're not allowed to speak ill of Mrs. Tom Cruise? Because we're still in love with her from her Dawson's Creek days?
There's something not quite right with his voice. Not sure what it is. And while Gyllenhaal is definately a better actress than Holmes, I'm not sure she is the best replacement. They both seem to have the same blank stare to me.

I think they're not talking about Katie getting the boot, because it's old news. They announced it around the time that Batman Begins came out, because, if you remember, this was around the time of the Couch Jumping. The producers of Batman were pissed off because her boyfriend's antics drew attention away from the movie.
The story was picked up by the wire services back in June of 2005

Hello. My name is Heath Ledger. A couple of weeks ago, the publisher of this site told to
reply into the web, and type in my own thoughts about the Joker Photos. Joker was by far
probably my favorite role in my entire acting career. I will explain all of Joker's personalities.
For one thing, he has no life. No feeling. In my opinion he is a man, insane, sensless mass
murderer, serial killing clown of lunacy. No one know's how the Joker became the Joker
but i bet he had a terrible, and dark past which deranged him into the man man that he is
today. The Joker was absolutely fun to play, and i holp you like seeing him. I was never really
a fan of Joker. I loved the Batman, and the old fasioned comic books, but my favorite villain
was probably Two Face. Aaron Eckhart had the pleasure of playing him, but i don't disagree.
Aaron is a very good Two Face, and is going to delight all of you audiences. When Nolan
explained to me that i was going to be the Joker, i had to think about it. But i decided. What
the hell. Sure i'd do it. In the Dark Knight, the Joker does not get executed. He merely
disappears. In the next film, the actors got a little sneak peek, and Two Face is going to be
the main villain. He and the Joker then will join forces in order to destroy their worst, and
only enemy. The Dark Knight. The Batman who is playing by Christian Bale. I love the story
of how Harvey Dent became Two Face. Harvey betrayed the Joker, and then the mad killer
clown hunted him down, and burned off half of his face with the same acid that sunk into
the Joker's very ego. In the third installment to the new Batman movies, you also learn about
Joker's past, and how be became the Clown Prince of Crime. Chistopher Nolan's 2008 Batman
Hit is going to blow off your mind. My favorite scene in the Dark knight, is when the Batman
and the Joker battle on the streets. Batman has his batpod, and Joker is on his feet, shooting
an atomic mahine gun at the vigilante. It just reminds of an old fasioned western showdown.
I hope you enjoy the movie. I know i loved playing in it.
