Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - New Trailer

Now that is how it's done. 

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 looks better than Superman and X-Men combined, and you know the writing will be fantastic (same writers as the first one), not unbearably cheesey like that X-Men clip we saw yesterday.

Jeffrey Wells Looks Forward to the Summer

In this week's piece, he's surprisingly optimistic about the big films coming out this summer, rather than the normal huge studio dreck that normally accompanies June, July, and August.

Here, he riffs on (and offers alternatives to) Mission: Impossible III, Poseidon, The DaVinci Code, X-Men: The Last Stand, The Break-Up, Cars, Nacho Libre, Superman Returns, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, The Lady in the Water, Miami Vice, Flags of our Fathers, Apocalypto, World Trade Center, and Snakes on a Plane.

Mission: Impossible 3 Trailer

Next summer's tentpole films are starting to advertise... I think just in the past few weeks I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean 2, X-Men 3, Superman Returns, and now here's Mission: Impossible 3.

Two thoughts:

1. Wasn't Keri Russell supposed to be in this movie?  Where is she in the trailer?
2. There's really just one "wow" moment for me in this trailer, and it comes at the end when the rocket hits the bridge and Cruise slams into a car.  It's a nice change from the standard "explosion in the background, and the star flies forward."
